Birds, Bunnies, Butterflies, Bike, Beverages and Bluebonnets!
BIRDS
Sometimes watching TV leads to some really fun projects. One of our favorite morning programs is Curious George and the show we watched this particular morning was all about using recycled materials to build things for little critters. Emmy was in a crafting sort of mood and asked if we had anything on hand to make a birdhouse. Out to the recycling bin we went and came up with an empty vinegar bottle, a milk jug and some leftover dowel rods from a crafty project of mine gone really wrong. A little bit of paint, some fishing line and Joel's drill and we were in business. She came out real nice Clark, real nice.
BUNNIES
Fry's Fun Farm came to our preschool last week and boy did we have fun squeezing, chasing, and petting bunnies. There were also some goats, a miniature pony, cow and baby lambs but they didn't attract the same attention as the bunnies.
BUTTERFLIES
Boone's best little buddy told us all about the IMAX 3D film called Flight of the Butterflies he saw at the Bob Bullock Museum of Texas History. He highly recommended it and since we are studying butterflies in preschool I decided we should make it a field trip. Owen had the day off also so we took him along to see one of the coolest IMAX movies I've ever seen. We learned all about how the Monarch butterfly migrates to Mexico every year, metamorphosis, and the story of a scientist on a quest to learn more about the Monarch Butterfly.
They were EXCITED and looking super cute in the 3D glasses.
Any chance she gets now she wants to fly like a butterfly. She even wraps herself in blankets and pretends she is coming out of her chrysalis...again and again and again...
BIKE
Mrs. Alison found this gem of a strider bike at a garage sale last weekend and nabbed it for us! She had overheard me telling Boone we were looking on Craigslist to buy one for him, since the bike he has now is a bit too much. Thank you so much Ali!! He is a changed man on this bike. We have taken several FAMILY biking outings because he is able to fly on the glider and can keep up with everyone now. He's even beaten big sister a couple of times, even if she won't admit it! ;) Boone is also the zoo keeper this week (in preschool the kids each take turns taking home a beanie baby animal to "care" for during the weekend) so "Chops" got to come along as well.
BEVERAGES
Chase and Paige had their first business venture; a Lemonade Stand! We had so much fun buying a drink from them and then hanging out and flagging down cars. By the time we got there, they had raked in the dough as seemingly all the neighbors had come out to support these little entrepreneurs.
Of course Chops bought a glass also.
BLUEBONNETS
Gotta love us some Texas traditions: the annual Bluebonnet picture.
Boone's selfie
Found out picking Bluebonnets is NOT illegal. Who knew?
Boone actually got us both in the picture! I think he might have a future in photography.
