These two gals loved on Emmy in amazing ways this past year. We were so sad for preschool to be over. Mrs. Amanda and Mrs. Carol are phenomenal women and teachers! They were the perfect pair to help Emmy as she learns how to use her gifts appropriately.
Emmy had her first surgery a few weeks back. We had been through a ridiculous amount of ear infections and the doc said tubes would be our best bet. She was so excited. Not even nervous one bit. This kid may be a handful, but her strength can be such a great quality! Our new neighbor friend Margaret had her precious baby four weeks ago so we thought Mags needed a proper homecoming. Jason said he could hear us pulling the tape off the roll and was swearing to himself about the squirrel in the attic he was going to have to kill. He was very relieved it was just us, ruining the paint job on their siding.
While Margaret was getting ready to come home, we got to hang with her two other babies, Molly and Maeve. It was stinking hot and everyone was getting stir crazy so we pulled out the shaving cream and went to town. Boone slept through it all.
Sweet Merrick is growing up to be such a big girl. The Hardy Party was so sweet to come hang with us up north. We took them to our neighborhood park and played like deranged monkeys. We miss our Southy Besties and feel so blessed when we get to spend time together.
Blue paint. Everywhere. Melissa got us all geared up for some fine dining, all free if we painted ourselves blue. We had a ball becoming smurfs and eating at The Blue Baker. It turned out to be a very fun impromptu night.
I spent a weekend in North Carolina visiting a dear friend, and came back to a ridiculous heat wave.
It's ok though because we are now members at the YMCA. The pool at the Y is one of my saving graces this summer. I don't even want to guess how much we are going to end up spending on sunscreen this season, but it is all worth it. There is nothing better than playing at the pool to stay cool.
We had a bit of a scare last week. Boone had an "episode" while we were hanging with some pals at the Chick Fil A indoor playground. He started complaining that he was tired and when I picked him up, his eyes rolled back, his face kept contorting in a weird way, and he went completely limp. It took him a few seconds to come to and focus. He seemed fine once I got him some water and sat with him for a while. After talking to our pedi though, I went ahead and took him to the ER at Dell Children's. I am pretty laid back with health issues (maybe to a fault) but this scared me quite a bit. Our nurses and Dr. were so precious. His CT scan and blood work all came back normal, much to our relief. The doc said it is not abnormal to have one seizure in your life that is totally unrelated to anything. She called it a "freebie seizure." I am so grateful my little man is ok and want to say a big thank you to the folks at Dell Children's. Ah-mazing.
We had Boone's birthday party this past Saturday. He's three. Sniff, sniff. Unfortunately I was a little off because of the ER trip the day before so I did not do a good job of getting any pictures. Nana saved the day and said she had some on her camera. It was nice and hot but our best buddies braved the heat with us anyway for some water fun in the backyard.
Then we headed out with Nana and Pa to the Lakeway fireworks show where we met up with the Dasilva Clan and the Hardy Party. It was a great way to end such a fun day and I felt blessed to have been in the company of some of my favorite people all day long.
