Fun, fun and more fun

Emmy has had a lot of fun these past few weeks. Now that the weather is beginning to cooperate we are able to spend more time outside getting to know the wildlife around us. Emmy is undeniably drawn to animals and cannot contain herself whenever one gets close enough to play with. A couple of weekends ago we took her to the Austin Zoo for the first time. Let me preface by saying some think this zoo is terrible: not enough animals, ugly landscaping, etc. It is a rescue zoo after all, but we loved it! Emmy thought she was in heaven. Here is the not so friendly llama that Emmy was excited about until it decided to nibble her head. Emmy liked to tease the goat with food. She laughed and laughed when he climbed on the fence and reached his neck out as far as he could to get to her. She is a true stinker.

Next on the agenda was some kite flying at the Ausin Kite Festival. It has become a tradition thanks to our friends the Mezgers. We loaded up after church and headed out to Zilker Park even though Emmy was WAY overdue for a nap. The minute we got there and she saw her friend Bailey, she didn't need no stinkin nap!
You had to watch out because at any second you could get dive bombed by some amateur kite flyer. This is our new dragon kite! So cool! The Kite Crew

Next up, the Young Life Fundraiser out at this exotic animal farm managed by the Texas Disposal System...I know, seemed a little weird to me also but it is actually a really cool facility. We saw all sorts of animals: weird looking deer and antelope that are supposedly from Africa, buffalo, ostriches, zebras, camels, and the ones below were our favorites.

This rhino was a hoot. He kept charging the fence and it felt like there was an earthquake each time his hooves hit the ground. So cool! There was a guy doing some hunting dog demonstrations, but Emmy was more excited about the duck decoys. Go figure.

Finally, we got to see the Bakers this past weekend. They made the wise decision to come down South from Oklahoma to see Liza's new nephew Luke (who's super cute by the way!).They spent one night with us and Emmy was so excited to see her friend Graham.

These aren't the greatest pictures and I am super sad we didn't get any all together. This one is a perfect display of how Emmy likes to sit in such a ladylike manner.

Preggo pictures to come!

Caroline loves the animals too! I know she would enjoy the Austin zoo even if it is lame to others!

Frog week has been postponed due to a pursuit of knowledge about St. Patrick's Day. Unfortunately, there are not any kid-friendly videos on the subject. Mostly horror films. How old is Emmy right now? She and Tommy need to meet. Oh and congrats on a little boy next!
