Three weekends ago we hauled the family up to the great state of Oklahoma to hang with some dear friends. There were two objectives: to shoot some turkey and play hard. Liza is my dearest friend from college and her husband's family owns a 5,000 acre (WHAT?!) BEAUTIFUL ranch in Oklahoma. Boone and Emmy got to ride up front when we crossed the cattle guard onto the property. Boone took his job of steering very seriously.

We were so excited as we drove in, anticipating a weekend of fishing, hunting, throwing rocks in the lake, seeing exotic animals, and seeing our old pals.

The first morning we were there Joel nabbed him a turkey. Brandon is the ultimate host and let Joel chase this turkey and take him out.

Graham and Emmy were so excited and had a blast touching the dead turkey...while Liza and I stood by gagging silently and just biding our time before we could throw them in a bath tub full of hand sanitizer. Just kidding, but we did make sure they scrubbed their hands. Raw.

When the men folk got back I was still in my pajamas. Gotta love vacations! As a side note, Joel climbed the hill behind us later that day to make a business call (service was spotty at best) and as he was sitting in the grass atop that very hill he found an arrowhead! A real one. A really pretty one. Brandon let him keep it. So fun!

So proud! The turkey fan is in our garage and I am sure Joel has put the arrowhead in our safe should you want to see either or both.

Zebras!

Tractors!

Hay climbing!

We just had a blast that weekend. The kids were well behaved, the boys got to have adventure, Liza and I got to reconnect and relax together. Overall it was by far the best mini-vacay we have had in a long time.

These two would be best buds if we lived close! They were so funny to watch.
They would actually hold little conversations with eachother. Emmy was a little much for Graham in the mornings as she tends to be a bit grumpy. Those were the funniest conversations. One time Graham asked Emmy if she wanted to go fishing with him. She replied no and as he was about to leave she cried out. "I don't want you to go." He asked her again then if she would come. Her reply? "I don't want to go, but I don't want you to go either. Stay here with me!" What's a guy to do? Welcome to the crazy world of women Graham!

Oh how I love these precious people!

Liza.

You know how there are those people you just know you will be friends with for life because they are basically family and seem to always be on the same wave-length as you are regardless of how much you talk to them on a regular basis?

Well, Liza is one of those. I don't even think I can define what she means to me. She's my homes.

I get her heart and she gets mine. I look forward to many more fun weekends like this one where our kids and husbands will play together and we will look on in total gratitude to the God of all Creation who blessed us with eachother.

A huge thanks to our husbands who made that weekend possible!
